SUBJECT

The Letters course from Unespar, campus of Campo Mourão, began in 1974 and has undergone several changes since its inception. However, its key feature has been the Portuguese and English language teachers training since its inception.



The subject of English Language I at Unespar, campus of Campo Mourao, aims at teaching basic content of the English language as well as theoretical aspects of English language teaching and learning. These two fundamental aspects of the subject are linked since the selection of texts for the establishment of each Teaching Plan till the teaching methodology. Currently, the course adopts the teaching methodological approach based on textual genres, linking them with scientific texts of the English language teaching area distributed on an annual workload of 144 hours at evenings.




The evaluation procedures consists of comprehension and oral tests as well as oral and written production, and the works undertaken throughout the year, including, the project "United for Reading project" in 2015.


PROFESSOR


Alessandra Silva is a professor at Unespar (Campo Mourão/PR). and has PhD in Language Studies from Londrina State University (2015). She has worked in private educational networks and state schools. She is currently the coordinator of Paraná Speaks English from Unespar and teaches English language subjects, also works in training orientation in the course, Unespar, campus of Campo Mourão, and participates in the Advisory Board of the Journal NUPEM. She is enrolled in the Language and Education research group (coordinated by Professor Dr. Vera Lucia Lopes Cristovão) and is vice-coordinator of the Language, Development, Education and its relations research group with the professor Maria Izabel Rodrigues Tognato.




Mariana Furio is an English Professor at Unespar (Campo Mourão/PR). She got her master’s degree at UEL (Londrina/PR), where she carried a research on New Technologies and Formative Development of In-service Teachers. Also, at the same institution, she finished her graduation course in Letras/Inglês. As researcher, Furio is interested in NTIC, Formative Process, Critical Thinking, Argumentative Studies.





Soraia Sonsin Teixeira is a Professor of English Language at the Collegiate of Languages / Unespar - campus of Campo Mourao. She graduated at Fecilcam and got a master's degree at UEL in Language Studies. Her research is the Activity Theory (Vygotsky and his contemporaries). Her academic interest are focused on teaching and learning and initial and continuing teacher training.
